Crossing borders required the necessary documents to pass through customs, since the 1961-1964 route to SOFIA and back crossed Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, and the former Yugoslavia : Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro! But the turning point was of course Sofia in Bulgaria!
